From Noumea to Yate
Is not that easy to reach Yate from the capital Noumea. You need a 4×4 due to several rivers you have to wade. You can find a very different vegetation from Noumea to Yate. You will pass by Mt. Dore where a relict of primary forest still exist. Nice tall trees are present. Going from Dore to Prony you can see the trees changing from high and deep forests to small trees .
From Prony to Yate there is a little of trees, very small, very dry and the soil is red, due to the amount of copper inside the sand.
There are many mines, many refinery and the pollution is high. Refinery and caves are huge, some caves extend for more than 50 kilometers ! Obviously the landscape is ruined and of course the nature has seen better times.
Around the village of Yate the nature is beautiful again. A small but nice forest, full of life.
Going from Yate village to the dam in the Yate lake the weather was very cloudy, cold and rainy. Temperature were around 16 degrees at 14.00 so I think that could be way lower in the night.
