You can find several natural jewels heading to the north from Hienghene. First of all, the street is near the sea and the view is very nice.

Not far from the village there is a rock in the sea and from the street you can have a spectacular view.

Then you will pass on some small creeks with the typical estuarine vegetation and fauna.

In the end you have to wait a small ferry to cross the biggest estuary and arrive near to Mt. Panie massif.

Then, you will arrive to Cascade de Tao, a very nice view and near the street you can get a nice trail that will bring you up in the mountain.

Along the street you can find several nice fruits, plants, seeds, big trees. The valleys near hienghene are very deep, from Hienghene you can easily go in the deep of the wildest New Caledonia tribes, mostly on unpaved roads. A 4×4 car is needed and white people or tourist are not so welcome. These are some of the oldest and wildest tribes, here with people come rarely.
